Founders

– Cassandra Onwualu

Cassandra Onwualu is a multilingual (English, French, Igbo & Pidgin) Creative Producer, Impact Producer and Distribution and Marketing Strategist and with over 7 years of experience. Collaborating with Filmmakers and investors, she offers invaluable advisory and strategic insights to navigate the path towards realizing creative visions and maximizing financial investments.


With an eclectic cocktail of professional experiences, Cassandra's journey includes pivotal roles at ACOMART Media Group, where she spearheaded business development before rising to become the Chief Marketing and Content Officer. She also held several management positions including Head of International Film Relicensing at AFOREVO, a production, distribution and dubbing company which was at the time, YouTube’s largest partner for African creative content. Cassie has also worked with Nollywoodweek film festival and had stints in art sales and events management, Translation and Tourism in Paris, France.


Cassandra has worked on notable productions like “Alive till Dawn” (in post), “Back Benchers” (in development), “Once Upon a Crush” (in development), “Love Lockdown” (2025) “The Weekend” (2024) "Over the Bridge" (2023), “Chronicles of a Mistress docuseries” (2023"Gwoza" (2023), "The Wait" (2021), “Temi’s Diary” (2020), “Sheila” (2019). She has also overseen the distribution of films and lifestyle content to various OTT, Pay TV and Inflight platforms across the globe.


Cassandra is an alumna of the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), a U.S. Department of State initiative that fosters cultural and professional exchanges between global professionals and their American counterparts. She is also an alumna of the Moving Pictures Distribution and Marketing Incubator, launched by Some Fine Day Pix in collaboration with GIZ Germany.


Cassandra has a B.A degree in Communication and Public Relations from École Supérieure de Gestion et du Commerce International Paris, France (ESGCI) and is the Creatrix and CEO of Ojiugo Arena, a boutique film production and distribution company.

– MIZERO KABANO YANNICK

MIZERO KABANO YANNICK is the Producer and Head of Operations at Imitana Productions, a company with a decade of experience in film and TV. Yannick is also the Festival Coordinator for the Kigali Cine Junction Film Festival, organized by Imitana Productions, a film production company based in Kigali, Rwanda, founded in 2013 by two award-winning filmmakers: Mbabazi Sharangabo Philbert Aimé and Ishimwe Karemangingo Samuel. The company has revived and runs the only independent theater in Kigali: Cine Mayaka by Imitana (built in 1974). They are also the organizers of Kigali Cine Junction, an annual film festival that happens in Kigali.


Imitana has worked with Al Jazeera and DW and our work has been broadcasted on Arte Germany and France. With a decade long experience, our portfolio has reached international audiences. Our latest films include IMFURA, winner of the prestigious Silver Bear at Berlinale in 2018 while I GOT MY THINGS AND LEFT won the Oscar qualifying Grand Prize of Oberhausen in 2019.


Images and sound being the strongest art forms of the 21st Century, our main goal is to produce subtle and poetic audiovisual works of word-class artistic value, changing the stereotypical narrative of Rwanda in cinema and TV. Imitana Productions has provided production management and fixing services for a number of International film productions that took place Rwanda, notably for This Is Football series pilot, now airing on Amazon Prime.



We also produce works of a new generation of bold Rwandese filmmakers. Our upcoming feature film, Minimals in a Titanic World (Premiering at Berlinale Forum) is a Rwanda/ Germany, Cameroon and Cape Verde co-production. While IKIMANUKA (in development) is a co-production between Rwanda, France and Cape Verde. Nic is passionate about filmmaking, driven by an early love for classic cinema and literature. He has lived and worked in China and has a Bachelor’s degree is a Computer Science. He is an alumnus of the Moving Pictures Distribution and Marketing Incubator, launched by Some Fine Day Pix in collaboration with GIZ Germany.

MARETE SELVIN is a Documentary Producer and Co-founder of Meraki Africa, a multimedia communication and production company dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and sustainable world. Through the artful combination of language, imagery, and sound, Marete leverages storytelling to inspire audiences, cultivate understanding, and drive meaningful engagement across diverse media platforms.


Beginning her career as a news reporter, Marete covered global issues ranging from gender and culture to environmental conservation. Her expertise spans producing live news broadcasts and creating impactful documentary films for international organizations, non-profits, and research institutions.


As an AWF/African Conservation Voices Fellow, Marete uses media to amplify African perspectives, ignite awe for our living planet, and champion conservation. Her work has been featured at renowned events such as the Jackson Wild Film Festival and the World Health Organization Film Festival, and broadcast on TV Station like NTV and GBS TV. She is also an alumna of the Moving Pictures Distribution and Marketing Incubator, launched by Some Fine Day Pix in collaboration with GIZ Germany.
